BC Athlete Voice would like to thank the BC Games Society, the BC Olympic & Paralympic Youth Leadership Academy, the Greater Trail 2006 BC Winter Games Committee and most of all the fantastic volunteers for the incredible opportunity to conduct the first ever BC Athlete Forum during the Greater Trail 2006 BC Winter Games!

The combination of the BC Winter Games, the BC Olympic & Paralympic Youth Leadership Academy, and the BC Athlete Forum presented the participants with the unparalleled outcome of returning home with both a leadership and Games experience.

Forum Athletes traveled from seven of the eight BC Games Zones bringing their regions unique perspective on sport.  The Athletes represented the sports of: Archery, Cross Country Skiing, Fencing, Figure Skating, Kayaking, Speed Skating and Wrestling.

The union of the BC Winter Games, the Academy and the Forum provided the unique opportunity to showcase how incredible our sport system is - as the Athletes attending the Forum were all alumni of both the BC and Canada Games. It was truly remarkable to hear the Forum delegates share how their BC and Canada Games experiences continue to contribute to their adventures at both the national and international level. These interactions with the BC Games Athletes and Academy participants, truly allowed the learning to occur as different sport perspectives were offered, leadership skills explored and developed, all resulting in an enhanced understanding of our sport system.

As the BC Athlete Forum is the key ingredient in ensuring BC Athlete Voice delivers on our mission of providing educational programs, advocacy services and supporting Athlete empowerment through strategic partnerships. We look forward to presenting the second BC Athlete Forum in the near future! Details will be made available and advertised in the coming months!
