Team BC ACE Leadership Award
Many of our home-grown BC Athletes are taking the leadership skills they have honed through sport and are applying them in innovative and exciting ways for the benefit of their communities. Understanding the importance of athlete leadership, the Sport and Recreation Branch and BC Athlete Voice have teamed up to create the ACE (Athlete Community Excellence) Leadership Award. This innovative new initiative recognises Athlete Community Excellence by profiling and promoting the great work athletes are involved with in communities throughout BC.

The Team BC ACE Leadership Award is presented to high performance Team BC Athletes (long list or short list) who have made a significant contribution through their involvement as a leader and promoter of sport and physical activity for the greater benefit of their sport and community.   Team BC athletes will be profiled in their communities and linked with MLAs and others to promote the benefits of sport and physical activity. Additionally, this award provides exposure for the Provincial Sport Organization at the local level.

BC Athlete leaders play a crucial role in building healthy, productive and engaging communities for people young and old.  Let Team BC athletes know their leadership efforts are making a difference. Nominate a great Team BC Athlete today - click here

From the nominations of PSOs and Coaches, Team BC ACE Athletes will...
  • Be connected to their local MLA through an official letter outlining how the athlete has contributed to the community and sport. The MLA’s will be provided with a plaque to award to the ACE Athlete in their riding;
  • Have their profiles promoted bi-weekly on the BC Athlete Voice and Team BC websites;
  • Be profiled and recognized at the Team BC Staging Event with the ACE Leadership Award;
  • Be provided with media exposure and opportunities;
  • Be provided with a bi-weekly resource covering a topic of leadership via email;
  • Complete postcards and e-cards from the Games to their MLA;
  • Additional ACE Awards will be presented each day at the 2009 Canada Summer Games to recognize athletes that have positively contributed to Team BC off the playing field.

This is a great way to recognize those athletes in your sport that go above and beyond and play a positive role in their sport and community.

Which Athletes Are Eligible?
  • Athletes must be striving for or be selected to compete for Team BC at the 2009 Canada Summer Games.
  • Athletes who have made a significant contribution to their sport and community as a leader.
We're calling on PSO's and Team BC coaches to nominate Long List or Short List Canada Summer Games Team BC Athletes that have shown great leadership at the community level.

Every person that nominates an athlete will also receive a BC Athlete Voice Prize Pack as our thank you for taking the time to recognize your athletes.

Who Can Nominate Athletes?
