BC Athlete Voice, Canadian Sport Centre Pacific and PacificSport are working together to establish Athlete Leadership Councils across the province. Each Athlete Leadership Council will collectively promote the ongoing representation of athletes in BC to ensure the athlete voice is provided to the wider community.

This is an exciting opportunity for athletes to make a difference in sport here in BC. Athletes will be provided with an invaluable leadership opportunity where they can build on both personal and professional skills while meeting and socializing with other like-minded athletes.

Provide BC Athletes with a collective voice through opportunities to be involved and engaged in formal, structured and supported Athlete Leadership Councils that come together to form a province wide Athlete Advisory Network.

The intended outcome of the Athlete Leadership Councils is...

To ensure that athletes in BC are effectively represented as a collective voice by connecting through their regional Athlete Leadership Council to share their experiences and support the development of sport and healthy living in BC.

How will the Athlete Leadership Councils work... 

• Athlete Leadership Councils will be established across the province and through the identification of athletes that are interested in leading this initiative in their respective region. 
• BC Athlete Voice, Canadian Sport Centre Pacific and PacificSport Centres will communicate a call of interest to all athletes in the region and provide application procedure and instructions. 
• Athletes interested in being part of their regional Athlete Leadership Council can apply online. Once applications close the first meeting of the regional Athlete Leadership Council will be held with all athletes from the region invited to attend. The first order of business will be for those athletes in attendance to vote and appoint the members of that regional Athlete Leadership Council.
• BC Athlete Voice, Canadian Sport Centre Pacific and PacificSport Centres will manage this process and then provide ongoing support for the Athlete Leadership Council to ensure it functions successfully.

Currently the only Athlete Leadership Council being established is in Vancouver.
