Activate your network...

Get on your face-space, update your my-book and twit your followers. The great thing about athletes is that they always have a network around them. Think of your coaches, family, training buddies, physio, teammates, competitors, doctor - the list goes on and on. This is a fantastic resource as all of these people know you, know how hard you work as an athlete and know how important athletes and sport are to the community and the province. Athletes often have a wide social circle through the friendships sport creates and fosters. Now is the time to utilize your network in promoting the value of athletes and the importance of sport. Here are some ideas on getting the message out on the value of athletes and sport...

  • Support athlete and sport causes on Facebook - join fan pages, comment on posts regarding sport and include your own updates on your thoughts and perspective as an athlete
  • Start a blog and share the inner feelings of an athlete (but be careful - remember that anyone can read and therefore spin your comments)
  • Get on twitter and keep your followers updated on the day to day life of an athlete
  • There are lots of ways to get out in cyber space, connect with your supporter and share your story!
